ABOUT OUR WAX
Dessa's Homespun Scents offers handcrafted scented wax melts, created from a proprietary house wax blend, combined with high quality fragrance oils, poured in a variety of colors.Â
Our wax is soft enough to cut with a butter knife or wax cutter, yet hard enough to maintain and hold its shape.Â
Every wax melt is poured in small batches (by me) in Beavercreek, OH.
CURE TIME
Choosing to cure your wax (allowing it to set and strengthen over time) is personal preference. Generally speaking, our wax formula has a very short cure time and is ready to melt upon receipt, however some scents may benefit from additional cure time, allowing the scent to strengthen further.
WAX MELTERS/WARMERS
Wax warmers do matter, and may impact your melting experience. Not all wax warmers are created equal. Although all warmers will melt wax, lower wattage warmers may not get hot enough to adequately "throw", or disperse the scent. Higher wattage warmers will produce a stronger scent throw for a shorter period of time, while the lower wattage warmers will produce a lighter scent throw for a longer period of time.Â
Based on personal experience, our wax works best when melted in a 20 watt or higher electric hot plate style warmers, or a tea light warmer. Personal preference, and what works best in our home is a 24 watt hot plate warmer with a wide, round shallow bowl.
Air flow and warmer placement may also impact scent throw. For optimal scent performance, try moving your warmers to various locations, preferably away from ceiling fans and A/C vents if possible.Â
The amount of wax added to the warmer may also impact your melting experience. For best performance, we suggest starting out with approximately .5 to .7 ounces, and go from there. If too much wax is added to the warmer, it may actually prohibit the wax from getting hot enough to disperse the scent.Â

Not all scents will be available during each opening - scents will be recycled in and out based on season, polls/votes, requests, oil availability, etc.
TURN AROUND TIME (PROCESSING TIME)
The processing time for our preorders is 8 weeks. The 8 week window does not include the weekend of the preorder or shipping time.
WEATHER CONDITIONS
Due to the nature of wax, it may soften and/or melt during transit. If this should occur, allow your wax to cool and harden. It will be perfectly functional for melting and use, and is not considered a damaged item.
CONCERNS
We take great pride in our products and want you to be happy with your order.
Scent and strength is personal and is very subjective, therefore returns will not be accepted if a scent/strength is not to your liking. Detailed scent descriptions are available for review. If you are unsure about a scent, please feel free to ask for additional information.
If you have other concerns with your order, please contact us and allow us to work with you and attempt to resolve the situation. Each situation will be handled on a case by case basis.
Refunds are only offered if an item has not yet been poured.
ABOUT ME
I started making wax in 2010 out of a passion for all things scented. I love crafting, creating, and a wonderful smelling home. I find that scented wax can impact mood through scent memory, and being able to enjoy a variety of different scents all year long is icing on the cake. After years of making wax for personal use, Dessa's Homespun Scents officially launched in 2014. This is a very small operation based out of my home in a dedicated wax workspace.Â
